need to fit some downlights and due to various reasons can only come up with one soloution, but not sure on if its allowed and cant find ref: in regs but im sure you chaps will know:

fusing down from ring with 3a fcu to power two plug in transformers, is a double socket ok to fuse down if warning label attached stating the fact or is it not allowed full stop?

the stairs require a new 3gang switch for landing light + 16 lights on stair treads + 3 downlights under stairs, all independantly switched, this was just decided after new staircase fitted and plastered up so:
1 switch already in place for stairs - swap for 3 gang
2 switch from 3a fcu through switch to doble socket for transformers
3 switch feeding downs under the stairs
switch 2 + 3 will go through the switches and neutrals at switch

If they're plug-in transformers why do you need to fuse down or attach warning labels?

figured as they were going to light switch first then sockets also as other set of down lights would be off switch also

ring--fcu--3gang switch---to socket for trans---to other downlights

just thought the switch and cables for other downlights would need to be dropped down if not the case then it would go as above with 13a fcu?

If I've understood you correctly then what you propose seems like a fair way of doing it. I think BAS comment was in relation to the fact that normally you wouldn't need to fuse down a 13A socket as the overcurrent protection is provided by way of a fuse in the plugtop (or in this case transformers). However, as you want to go through a light switch that will only be rated to 6A or so and also onto downlighters, you do indeed need the FCU to fuse down to something sensible like 3 or 5A.

thanks very much, i had to draw it out on paper (learning all the time) to plug the transformers in would mean switching would be understairs at sockets and they want all 3 light setups to operate from switch
