hi
i have just installed some downlights (4)

but when i turn them on its takes 1 light about 3 seconds to come on

i have tried moving it around but no matter what position i put it in the same happens

any ideas what the problem may be and how to fix it

It means they start softly.

Its meant to extend lamp life by limiting the current inrush on startup.

And soft-start dimmers will obviously make the effect greater.

3 seconds is a lot though, without a dimmer.

I have a soft start Varilight dimmer (remote control), but going from zero to full power takes it less than a quarter of a second.

yes then they are soft start and you dont notice the delay apart from the 1 light

i have tried different positions i have tried switcing the buld and the lamp cable but still get the delay

this is only when they are cold though, if i switch them on i get the delay, if i switch them off and back on they all light instantly
