Yes indeed, the fallen and the survivors who carried the fight right to Berlin.

Indeed, remember they and there sacrifices were the reason we could have a free election last thursday, which is why you should vote - people died to give you that right.

If it was not for those that fought, and fought and died, your choice of candidates last thursday would have been limited to 'National Socialist' or 'National Socialist'.

Not forgetting VJ Day which I see the British Legion are combining this time.

Surely it was the Red Army that fought their way into Berlin.

Is that what you meant?

Yes, but you're splitting hairs. It wasnt just the Red Army brigades that fought the World War, and you know it, and its facetious of you to suggest so.

I was not suggesting it at all

I was merely querying the Berlin reference

Anyway, it was a question to Oompah, not to you.

I believe its called a 'metaphor'............ Berlin being the capital of germany. 'Taking the fight all the way to Scunthorpe' doesnt carry the same ring or weight.

Deleted, with respect to:-

Guys this wasn't put on to be a slanging or points scoring thread it was a thread of remembrance to all those who gave up their lives for our freedom, doesn't matter if it was Berlin, Wembley/Liverpool/Scunthorpe etc etc

cut it out

Sorry couldn't resisit this one:
But taking the fight all the away to Wembly does have some ring to it??

Yes, but historically, Wembley isnt really noteable for any great military events........

 why do you feel you have to interpret what Oompah meant?
