Hi all,
SWMBO requires an additional light over her sink, but as the kitchen was tottally refurbed 18 months ago I am loath to start chopping into plaster and adding new switches etc.
So is it possible to just say take the switched live from the exsisting light and a nuetral and earth from that circuit connect up and job done.

The existing light is a fan thing with spots which can both be switched off independantly if not needed. if it is possible where would the best place to take the earth/neutral from? if not possible any ideas for a suitable compromise?

All suggestions greatfully received

If you are taking the live from the existing light,
why don't you just get the neutral and earth from there as well?

Thanks, I was thinking of breaking into the switched live before the existing light with a junction box to avoid having too many cables in the light fitting which is a bit tight as it is hence not wishing to use the existing lights nuetral and earth? does this sound logical :?:

You could do that.
But would be more logical to fit a junction box above the existing light if you can gain access. And wire it so each light only has one cable going to it.
