Additional light

Hi all,
SWMBO requires an additional light over her sink, but as the kitchen was tottally refurbed 18 months ago I am loath to start chopping into plaster and adding new switches etc.
So is it possible to just say take the switched live from the exsisting light and a nuetral and earth from that circuit connect up and job done.

The existing light is a fan thing with spots which can both be switched off independantly if not needed. if it is possible where would the best place to take the earth/neutral from? if not possible any ideas for a suitable compromise?

If you are taking the live from the existing light,
why don't you just get the neutral and earth from there as well?

Thanks, I was thinking of breaking into the switched live before the existing light with a junction box to avoid having too many cables in the light fitting which is a bit tight as it is hence not wishing to use the existing lights nuetral and earth? does this sound logical

You could do that.
But would be more logical to fit a junction box above the existing light if you can gain access. And wire it so each light only has one cable going to it.
