Could someone offer some advice.
I’m opening up my fireplace. I will install the lintel (picture 1) but am worried about the support highlighted above the green in picture 2. In essence, there will be nothing holding the brick up. Picture 3 is the space we will be opening up. Should I put in extra support behind the lintel at the sides and if so, what would your suggestions be?
