Hi,

I installed a new UPVC door in January - the frame is attached to wood which is inset into the surrounding brickwork.

The problem is that now the warmer weather has come, the wood has expanded a little and the door is sticking slightly when shutting. Unfortunately I have 'misplaced' the instruction sheet that came with the door and I can't recall which of the hinges need adjusting to get the door to sit back in-line.

There are 3 hinges, each with 2 allen bolts (one on top of the hinge, and one on the side of the hinge. The door is sticking near the top of the vertical side that has the handle (i.e. not the hinge side). It is hard to explain, but it would seem that the top of the door has 'tilted' forward, rather than the door warping.............so, I need to 'pull' the top of the door back towards the hinge.

Does anyone know which hinge/s I need to adjust and what direction I should be turning the allen bolts in each case - clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Many thanks

Gary

Normally it's clockwise to pull it in. You have to play around with it and may need hinges packing kit as well depending what adjustment is needed. Has the bottom door drop slightly or rubbing on the bottom cill? if so, it may need Toe & Heeling method instead.

Thanks for the reply masona.

No, I don't think the door has dropped as the bottom sill is not catching.

I did look at it more closely today, although haven't tried to adjust it yet. The place where the door is rubbing is at the side (top) lock catch. I would make a guess that it only needs about 1 or 2mm of adjusting as it is only just catching.

I'll wait until the next hot day before adjusting, as it is always worse then.

Thanks again
