Hello all,

Hopefully you will be able to see from the image what my problem is. Due to an unfortunate incident with a screw through a radiator pipe, I had to lift a floorboard in a hurry. The board was tongue and groove (although had been up before and most of the t&g was already gone. I cut the board, mistakingly, between joists, approximately 3" overhanging to the left of the joist. I have place a 2"x2" brace between the joists now, and screwed the two halves of the board back into place, across this brace.

After further contemplation though, I am a bit worried about the red circled area, the water pipe runs under one side of the board (about 1.5" of the width of the board), therefore the board basically rests over the pipe unsupported at this corner.

Bearing in mind that I am unlikely to fit a new tongueand groove board in place without removing the t&g anyway, do you think that I should remve the board back to a joist and fit in a new board, or will what has been done be ok?

Cut a new floorboard between the 2 joist on the centre of the joist. You may need to run another joist to support the edge of the flooring on the side unless the T&G can be slotted in.
