alternative to tiles?

have just renovated my kitchen & do not want to retile the walls above worktops,have seen a product that looks like ship lap but is plastic & is used in bathrooms,obviously i will need a metal splashback near the gas hob as regards heat.does anyone think this will work :confused:

I don't know the stuff you speak of, but when I worked in a restaurant the kitchens (totally brand spanking new in 2001) had the walls covered with some kind of plastic. This appeared to be moulded to shape and welded at joints as it was seemless, for hygiene reasons. Probably used in operating theatres too.

It reminded me of those resin floors that you get in minimalist-style buildings.

Perhaps if you check with a commercial kitchen suppliers you can find out if they sell it and see how it compares against the material you intend to use (with regards to type of plastic and how to fit it).
 
i think the stuff your looking for is plastic tounge and groove
the vee groove is extended by about an inch so its more a channel
