Amp changing channels with light switch

Ive got an amp with cd player etc, and when i switch on the lights (4 x cfl's) in that roomonly, it would change channel on my amp.
now it also seems to do it spontaneously a few times a minute.

any ideas what may be causing this? harmonics? ghosts?

This close to halloween, I'd say ghosts would be odds on favorite.

Try changing the bulbs? We had a similar problem with some cheaper ones, changed them for philips genie's and not had a problem since (also remotes seem more responsive since changing the bulbs... coincidence?)

Fluorescents are notorious for sending out spurious IR, I see examples of it all the time in my line of work, sometimes they can cause complete lock up of IR enabled machines, the only solutions are: try different brand CFLs, relocate the affected equipment or revert to alternative lighting.

Edit: I've also known of flat panel TVs radiating a field capable of blocking IR commands to neighbouring equipment.
