As an educated guess, I'd say that brass ring around the spindle at the bottom will unscrew. Small screwdriver or punch and chap it round anticlockwise and if you're lucky it'll free up. Usually they have notches cut into them to allow a tool to get purchase.
This is photography Dan now if I had time I could have knocked you up a nice landscape, anyhoo I can't get the feckin valve out to get a better picture.
I got the valve out yesssssss, turns out the chrome cap was the retaining thingy so once the unscrewed the outer cap it just pulled straight out of the fitting, all I need now is an id so I can buy some new o rings. thanks all
