In the process of choosing a col for my lounge and dining room (through room). Never ever known what to do with this old fireplace alcove i have.

Always thought it may be good with a dif col inside or maybe wallpapered?

Thinking of painting the whole room in something light and neutral as it is quite a dark house unfortunately. Mist coat has been applied already.

Any ideas or tricks from the pros to make a feature from a void like this?

Long shot i know but cheers for your time anyway ;)

What about one of those funky feature fires you see a lot of these days; no heat to speak of but they look good. If not, that would make a great location for a decent sized fish tank!

Richard C house is quite traditional victorian so don't fancy one of those fires, although do agree they look good in the right place. Aquarium....it's crying out for one, unfortunately the missus aint. Actually i would really like a vivarium there for an iguana but as above :(

JohnD this is a nice idea but a bit pricey for the minute.

Think i might paint inside a darker colour than everywhere elase, don't know why though, might just look good.
