I'm looking to have a rectangular deck built 12m x 4m at the back of my garden.
Standard 6x2 beams\joists, 144mm pine deckboards, with a ledger attaching the rear of the deck to the retaining wall at the back of the garden.
Its on a slight slope so will need dig out and concrete posts in (appx 24)

I'm supplying all the balusters, (as the missus already purchased the Fusion stuff from B&Q when it was discounted), so I'm looking for just the deck base structure to be built and the balusters\newels etc, to be fitted.
I could also buy the rest of the materials required.
How much should I be looking at this costing labour-wise?, and what should a good quality joiner be charging for a daily rate?

Cheers

All very interesting but a) most trades will ignore your beautiful plans and will do it their way anyway

and b) your question goes against the rules of the forum as it is impossible to answer as rates vary around the country and we cant see your garden.

Good luck with it though.

Fair enough, didnt see that it was against the forum rules to get an indication of proce. Just checked and can see that now.

Nice pics though.

If your able to do drawings like that are you not able to turn your hands to building it?

It's only wood & screws :D

Not any longer; the "no prices" rule was removed by admin some time ago & just a caveat remains advising not to rely on any prices given.

im not going to sit here and price it for you, as ive got enough of my own ones to price! Best advice i can give is go to at least 3 reputable landscapers (not a joiner) and get them to price it. As per wabbits comments, the designs are nicely done, but its well over designed, and i would personally offer you two prices. The price for doing it as per your spec, and the price for doing it my way. Good luck

No problem Thermo. Totally appreciate your busy, and respect your decision not to give an indication of price. That said, I'd really appreciate. any information you could give me where you think it's over-engineered would be appreciated?

Thanks for your other comments guys. I do appreciate them.

I've had a few 'decking\fencing specialists', out before I pulled together the diagrams above, but I've been given such wild variations in the quotes, I'm left wondering what the fair price should be. i.e. am I being ripped off for too high a price, or are the lower prices indicative of desperation for the work and poor quality.

I've used researched many resources and identified (I think) the general rules of thumb, and applied those to my designs.

I may end up doing it myself, as it's looking like I may be out of work at the end of June, so I'll have the time to do it anyway.

I was a Draughtsman of sorts, I always did nice drawings.

Never went to plan, do it myself now.

Measure how much wood you need and shop around the local woodyards etc for the best prices.

Then you may only be needing the labour.
