Wonder if you can help, have searched this forum but no answer to this issue. My washing machine has started to stick to just washing on the 1-4, 5-8 wash cycles. I.e. it doesnt go into "rinse and spin" mode it just washes for about 2+ hours if I left it. When I stop and start, and set it to rinse and spin it clicks around and back to number 1 etc... I then switch off at the mains, and then set it to rinse anand spin it works. Obviously I have to manually intervene each time which is not viable. Nor is spending 200+ pounds this year on a new one... so clever people, any bright ideas?

Check the heater poss open circuit

IS that something I can check by opening it up?

Yes remove rear cover and heater is at the bottom 3 wires on it. Use a meter or continuity tester.
