Attaching rear plate - Bosch Classixx 1000 washing machine.

Hi, I have a Bosch Classixx 1000 washing machine which has stopped spinning. I removed motor and replaced brushes, which were almost non-existent. However, I am having trouble re-attaching the rear plate. The plate is oval in shape and was attached by sone self-tapping screws at the bottom. This seems to grip the metal but however much I tightend it the plate seems to fall off. Has anyone experienced this before, and if so, how did you fix it?

From your description, it sounds like the original self tap screws have stripped the thread in the metalwork.
The usual remedy is to use larger diameter screws.
