I have a problem system that constantly trips every now and again on overheat,

It has an automatic bypass on it and i want to set it so that i have a min of 11 l/min goin through it(as per manufactor instructions)

can someone tell me what resistance to put on the bypass and how to set it?

i dont know what make of bypass it is as i never fitted the system.

well there are a few out there but am guessing that a middle of the road setting would be fine, a picture perhaps??

Turn the boiler on full and the by-pass valve off, then slowly open it until you get a flow through the valve, then turn it back one full turn.

Totally agree, but make sure all trvs are shut or heating and HW zone valves are shut first.

You only need to have the auto bypass open if there is insufficient flow elsewhere.
