Thanks

Have a look.

If you mean a gas boiler - is the cowl still on the top of the chimney?

If it is the downstairs chimney, again, have a look.
If it is a blocked off bedroom fireplace chimney, it will be completely separate from downstairs fireplace and should have a vent.

Nothing on top of Chimney. Fireplace downstairs is blocked off.

No fireplace upstairs but part of wall is like a panel floor to ceiling in chimney . Why would this be needed? What was the purpose? Access to the chimney?

So, do you mean there used to be a solid fuel back boiler?
If so, there will be no flue pipe, if that's what you meant.
The chimney itself (brickwork) is also called a flue.

Why are you asking?

No fireplace upstairs
Never?

Decoration?

Yes , there used to be a back boiler but that is removed and it's blocked off downstairs.

I am just curious as to why and what the purpose of this access panel is. There was never a fireplace upstairs. 1950 property.

See attached pic and what you think it is?

Access panel for pipework from back boiler to tank in loft?

Have a look in the loft to see if any pipework or tanks are up there.
