I have a Potterton Prima 50B conventional boiler, which is at least 15 years old but working perfectly, and a vented hot water cylinder with loft tanks.

The boiler has a Danfoss 102 timer and there is a manual 3 port zone valve next to the boiler. There is no room thermostat, no TRVs, and not even a cylinder thermostat!

Should it be feasible to have a cylinder thermostat, actuated zone valve and a wireless room thermostat/timer back fitted to my system? I'm loathe to replace a perfectly serviceable and well-maintained boiler but I would obviously like a bit more control in the period until I do need to replace it.

Many thanks
Ian

Yes its possible to have controls fitted to your boiler but you will need to change the manual 3 port and possibly convert to fully pumped, it depends on how your pipework is configured at the moment exactly what valves/controls you will need.

I believe the system is fully pumped already but I agree the manual 3 port will have to be changed. Glad to hear there's no technical reason stopping me going ahead though.
