Good evening,

I am replacing ball bearing, side mounted, drawer slides, on an old magnet kitchen, with heavy duty ones from Wickes. They are slightly wider (viewed in profile), and will not easily fit in the existing carcass when test fitted.

The drawer sides are 15mm thick. I need to lose 10mm (5mm each side) to offset the increased width of the slides.

Would routing a groove for this purpose weaken the structure of the drawer?

It is for one drawer only at present.

Cheers

Blup

I think you will be fine.....the structure of the rail should put back any weakness that you have incurred.
I don't think you have any choice but to give it a go!
