ballvalve change problem with water not shutting off!!

You will need to replace main stopcock ASAP, before winter come. If the pipe burst, and you can't turn off, it will do more damage and may affect house insurance.

stopcock replaced as well :) added another new one after original as it was lead going in and didn't have much access/didn't want to disturb it. So froze pipe before and added new one. Stopcock in street, the hole thing was crammed with clay/mud, after getting out, stopcock seemed to turn but not stop, think the spindle may have snapped?... better call the water board to replace?
