Seriously

I have an Ideal classic boiler (6 years old).Been in the house a few years now without any problems with it.However in the last month or to its started making the odd banging noise as it warms up.I took the cover off of the boiler yesterday and discovered a plastic impeller/fan(approx 2 inches wide) that had been damaged beyond repair and was sitting on the bottom of the cover.
Could this be the cause of the noise problem or is it a coincidence?Getting the boiler serviced in soon but thought i'd get an opinion from you insightful chaps before hearing the engineers verdict.

Cheers

I dont think the fan has anything to do with the banging, check your pump it sounds like you have a circulation problem, or it could be air locked.
