We have a pretty old Potterton Flamingo 50 with hot water cistern and cold water tank in the attic. Nothing has been done to the heating system for at least 2 years (when we moved in).

For the past 6 months or so, after anyone takes a shower, the pipes? in the bathroom start making a banging noise. We live in converted victorian house (top floor) and our neighbour's bathroom is directly below ours. We don't mind the banging noise but, as I get up and shower at 6 am, she does! The shower is simply part of the taps (one of those already attached things)

Does anyone know what this is? Is it fixable?

thanks very much in advance

Hi Damson in distress.

Banging could be caused by water hammer or pipes need correct clipping.
Try turning down your stoptap to reduce pressure.
You'll have to excuse my fellow collegues who love the women

Sorry for my signature below  but it is very relevant for us blokes
Btw I'd love a Swedish aupair ;)
