just wanted to say hi guys and great advice you all pass on.
been trainning in plastering for just under a year now picking it up bit by bit,
iv found that people have there own ways they feel comfy doing things but there seems to be a general rule you can stick too to help..feel free to add or take away
Backing coat “float”
Bricks, Concrete blocks, thermalites, existing render = (Wet walls or light watery pva after each coat)
Hardwall, browning, sand cement
First coat + second pass& devil float. s&c First coat 4-1 scratch, sec 5-1 dev float
Waterproofer in scratch
Low suction i.e. painted brick, plasterboard or engineering bricks= pva two
coats, sec tack coat
Bonding coat
First coat + second pass & devil float
*Apply finish coat to all backing coats before fully dry and keep damp or apply 5/1 pva*
Finish coat “set”
multifinish= use on all backing, two coats for good finish!
Old skim or float x2 pva , artex rub down peaks and 2x pva
!!!Do not use on wall paper
Dot and dab
Board adhesive used on most background, light pva before hand to help with dust and suction
If skimming, tape joints with scrim and finish with multi or board finish
