Sorry to ask a basic question but .........

At the minute i'm going to install a shower tray in the corner of my new bathroom.

The walls are just plasterboard , and have been skimmed.

What say the pro's on here as the best way to start the job off ?

Choose a high quality shower tray that is based on resin, with a plastic capping - you'll pay more for it but its well worth it.
One of the essential issues to it is of course, the drain. Either the 40mm drain will be below the floor, or if this isn't possible, you may have to mount your new tray on a timber plinth to get the required height.
Plastered walls are ok so long as you use quality tiles, adhesive, grout and sealants, but a cement board such as Aquapanel is better.
