bathroom fan - please forgive if dumb question

I have a bathroom extractor fan and halogen lights which are triggered by the same pull cord. I want to be able to switch them on independently. I don't want to put a light switch outside the bathroom. I'd ideally like a pull cord which can trigger one or both, though I have no idea whether such a thing exists. An alternative might be a pull cord switch with two cords which I vaguely remember seeing in the past.

Please excuse beginner nature of the question as I am a novice with wiring - my father in law will be doing the technical bits (he is experience) but i can't source a switch.

Any ideas gratefully etc etc
