Hi I want to replace a bathroom pull light switch which a heavy handed person has pulled down! I am not sure which wires to connect to where on the switch - do I have an old style switch?

Looking down at the switch:
bottom left COM
top right 2 WAY
bottom right 1 WAY
no earth

I do not have a picture of how it was previously wired as I was not here when it was pulled down - am helping out a friend.

Advice appreciated

Thanks

What cables do you have?

Probably:
One red goes to Com terminal
One black with red sleeve goes to 1way or 2way

If you do not have an earth at the switch means you possibly do not have an earth (cpc) on the lighting circuit, if this is the case do NOT fit metal switch's or light fittings

If there are two cables (4 wires + CPCs ) at the switch, then it may need the two blues (blacks) connected together in a choc bloc, one brown (red) on Com, and the other brown (red) on 1 Way (or 2 Way, it doesn't matter which) and the CPCs ('earths') sleeved green-yellow and connected together (choc bloc or preferrably using earth terminal in switch pattress)

It is possible the old switch may have been a double pole switch, which would have had terminals for both lives and neutrals.

If there are more than two cables, you will need to know where each cable goes to
