Hello all,

Having trawled the forums and this website (which has been really
informative) I still don't apper to be able to come up with a solution
to the problem that I'm having with my Baxi Combi Instant 105E boiler.

Over the past year or so I've had ongoing issues with the hot water.
I've had a new DHW heat exchanger fitted as well as a temperature
sensor, the problems seemed to subside for a short period of time (a
matter of months) before coming back.

Now I find that if I open a tap fully the boiler seems to only provide
warm water and even though the green LED for water is lit, the flame
LED goes on for twenty seconds before going on for 10 and so on.

If I turn the tap down the water temperature increases but the flow is
awful. I've already reduced the flow of water into the boiler using
the tap on the inlet to it.

I've noticed that the temperature LEDS on th boiler show the
temperature at 80oC when the water coming through the tap is only
warm, not sure if this helps.

From what I understand from similar posts is that the expansion
vessels acts as a reserve of hot water, is this correct? The dial is
set to preheat this appears to function correctly based on what it
says in the instructions.

Any advice as to what may be the problem would be welcome. The
heating works perfectly fine in case that makes a difference.

Yours,

Jack

Hi Jack firstly its nothing to do with the expansion vessel that is something completely different, do you have a thermostatic mixer shower or tap anywhere ? Ian

Hi Ian,

Funny you should mention that as I suspected that it may have something to do with my shower but I wasn't sure if this would make sense.

I do have a thermostatic mixer shower, I read a post on here (different boiler) that said that cold water can pass through into the hot pipework, is this correct??

yes its easy to test, run the hot bath tap and feel the temp of the water then go to the boiler and feel the temp of the HW outlet pipe usually 15mm if memory serves yours is second pipe in from left but not really sure , if the pipe is a lot hotter than the water then cold water is blending somewhere, usually a shower
