Baxi Solo 2pf not igniting...

Argh... I really can't afford an expensive repair job.... Anyway, does anyone know what could be causing this?

got a baxi solo 2pf boiler with relatively new pump (that went 6 months ago) and when the heating comes on, the boiler light switches on, the fan light goes on and it sounds like it's trying to light. (Can't see anything through the viewing window though.)

Then after a few seconds, it switches off. Then tries starting again and off again every 2 seconds or so. The dial on the boiler will control whether it comes on or not, but even running it at "1" the fan seems to just switch on then off again repeatedly.

it seems to be doing everything else ok, just not kicking in an firing up.

2 days ago, the system did the same, but after shutting it all off for 1/2 an hour it started first time with no problems. Today, got home to find the thing clicking away in the cupboard and only the hot water from this morning to wash with...

Any Ideas?

Not in the year or so we've been in the house....

Any Idea what a rough estimate is for a service? (need to arrange the cash before we freeze...)
