Bought a new bbq and trying to connect the orange gas hose that came supplied in the box to the ribbed spigot (? not sure on terminology?) on the bbq itself (I'm not trying to connect the regulator end as the regulator was already fitted to the other end Of the hose).

The instructions mentioned using water on the ribbed spigot and I've tried that but I can only seem to get the orange hose over the first rib, there's another two to go and it ain't budging.

Any tips?

Heat up the hose - put the end in hot/boiling water?

Thanks. Ok so the hose will expand with the heat?

But it won't get damaged by the heat?

Any other tips i.e.. Method of actually attaching it - twist it, push it, other?

Lubricate with Fairy liquid then twist & push at the same time.

Is that safe? (To have fairy liquid in the tube where the gas will ultimately travel through)

You only need a smear around the nipple no need to fill the pipe up.
