hi sister was having problems with heating system last night.. pipes were red hot and clanging and banging. When i went to the loft there was lots of water on the floor in the loft and lots of condensation dripping from the lost roof... i forgot to add she has a bbu system

Obviously the boiler was overheating and boiling.

That would be boiler stat failed ( or the sensing phial is out of the pocket ).

OR

The gas valve is sticking ON, that makes it immediately dangerous.

Just by chance there was a posting on here recently by a trainee who had encountered that when out with his boss. You could search for that for background info.

Do you mean that just pipes were red hot or radiators were red hot as well?

If rads were too hot then go with Tony's suggestion. If rads cold check pump as well

Agree boiler stat then, get it sorted before boiling water can melt plastic float on ball valve
