Hie,

What does this mean?

No further Checks Req’d Adopt 178x102x19 UB beneath each leaf of masonry bolted
down to mass concrete padstones at each end (2M8 bolts).

SE couldnt be bothered to do any more work or forces so low it was pointless or they had already proved the steel more than adequate..

Adopt 178x102x19 UB
This is a steel beam reference (UB = universal beam) giving heightxwidthxweight..

beneath each leaf of masonry
meaning below each skin of the cavity wall..

bolted down to mass concrete padstones at each end (2M8 bolts).
the beams will need a spreader padstone made of concrete to spread the load over more wall at each end which they are also asking to have the steel beams bolted down into the concrete padstone using 2x M8 (8mm diameter) bolts..

Why would he not specify bolts and spacers to hold the two beams together as this is a cavity wall?

And yet he wants the beam bolted down. Wont the wall above do that job?

Quite agree Woody...would bolt together at 600 centres staggered and tubes as spacers.
