The builders have exposed an interior masonry wall, not cleaned it properly, filled various gaps with a 'white' cement which doesn't match the remainder of the mortar joints, and sealed it with wood varnish.
My questions are:
a ) Is this detrimental to the wall as it can no longer breathe?
b ) Does brick varnish such as this Polyvine substance allow the brickwork to breathe?
c ) Does brick varnish such as this Polyvine substance leave a shiny coat, despite saying the finish is 'Non-reflective'?
Would appreciate urgent replies prior to their arrival tomorrow morning .
