I have been picking and pointing an old sandstone gable wall . I have approached a bit where the stone is so worn the customer wants it rendered over. Smooth render. Can I use a three to one mix of sand and cement or would power wall be any good ? Its not a big area. Just cant see it taking a decent key for me to render over as the stone is well gone .

Some friendly Advice please. Tam

Not so sure it would be a simple job removing the worn blocks there about four meters high on the gable and I recon the stone are about 400mm in depth.

You on about a sand and lime mix ? What would your mix be out of curiosity.
