Has anybody used a Bette bath with an upstand?

It seems a good idea, but all that's worrying me is that the measurements given to prepare for it (basically a 10mm deep recess) seem a bit precise.

Was fitting the bath/tiling afterwards straightforward.

It'll be replacing an exising bath, fitted agains solid walls which are already plastered (tiled at the moment).

No, just a standard one.

The upstand is a really good idea but:

1. It added (from memory) about £300.

2. There's no wiggle room. You need a dead square room. If you look at Bette's instructions it's clear they're really expecting the up stand bath to go into a new build. The corner of my bathroom wasn't quite square, but I could bring it out with thicker tile adhesive. It would have been a lot more difficult with the upstand bath.

3. Once you've tiled it in you can't move that bath. It's trapped behind the tiles. So if you wanted to change the plumbing it might be an issue.

All worth bearing it mind. Though I still think it's a brilliant idea, especially if you weren't doing a full wall of tiles.

Cheers, Mike
