Hi everyone,

I have ripped up some tiles in my kitchen and this has pulled up the bitumen layer underneath in some places. Under the bitumen is a very sandy screed.

Whats best to patch up these areas? Can I just buy bitumen paint and do I have to seal the concrete first?

Also, when I tiled the room next door I got adhesive coming up between the tiles. How is best to avoid this?

Many thanks

A pic would really help for us to advise you. FWIW, it sounds like you have a sand & cement screed below the bitumen layer - whats below the S&C?

Not knowing what size notched trowel you are using, nor the size of the tile, its difficult to correctly advise you.
