Bled the radiators the other day because one of them isn't heating up fully. Some really black water came out - is this normal or a problem that needs treated?

You could put some cleaner in the system and run it for a couple of weeks and then lots filling and draining to get it clean and all the cleaner out.

Clean F&E tank the. Inhibit.

It wouldn't be as thorough as a proper powerflush though.

In London you could expect to pay around £350 plus VAT upto 10 rads. Although some people will always charge a bit more or less

Proper Powerflushing is a bit of an art, I have had customers that have hired machines, followed info like on the Kamco website etc and then carried out the flushes therselves with success

Getting some black water out when bleeding is totally normal. A little sediment will settle around the valve.

If you keep bleeding the water should get clearer.

Don't bother with a powerflush unless you have a real problem with gunk, and cold spots in the radiators. Instead, drain down the system, add some Sentinel X400, run it a few weeks, drain down again and refill, remembering to add the inhibitor.

That will do the job perfectly well in most cases.
