Ok so here's how all my rads look. The 2nd picture is I think the isolation valve (lock shield valve) which is turned off so rad never comes on no matter what I turn the temperature too on the bottom 3rd picture trv/manual valve.
So are you saying the middle 2nd picture, the isolation lock shield valve has to be open for the bleed to work?
How about the temperature dial trv/manual valve on the bottom 3rd picture. Can that off when I bleed the rad?
You need a flow and return for the radiator to work, if you have one side completely shut off, then you’ll get no heat when the heating is on. If they’re both off, then you won’t bleed it at all, so yes at least one side open.

Thanks, so if I turn the temperature dial trv/manual valve to say the highest temperature even with the isolation lock shield valve shut then the bleed will still work correct? I am surprised at this as didnt think the dial trv/manual valve would make any difference if the isolation lock shield valve is shut as it makes no difference in terms of the temperature of the radiator when the isolation lock shield valve is closed.
