Quite possibly the SE is looking for an 'average' uniform wall thickness of around 200 - 220mm thickness for stability,which might explain the large number of piers. Would it be easier to just use double thickness of block to make the wall 280 thick? (with plenty of ties of course).
And are those steel stanchions each side of the opening really necessary? If the garage is not too tall, reasonably-sized blockwork returns would be OK.
