Hi I am new on here.

I have an old (ish) house, about 1920 build.

There is a drain on the pavement outside our front wall, I am in the process of establishing from the council if it is mine or their resposibility, hopefully the latter, but in any case it is blocked with general sludge from the adjoining main road which appears to have been running down it every time it rains.

It does drain away incredibly slowly (about 24 hrs), but fills up each time it rains.

I have tried rods down it but there seems to be a tight 90 at the bottom which the rods wont go past, so all I can do is stir it about really.

I have read that some drains have a rodding point elsewhere, but have not been able to find one.

Is there any really heavy duty industrial strength super duper acid or anything like that which may help me to clear it?

Or any other suggestions?

Help please?

My Trainee wanted to buy a second hand one for about £9000 but I warned him that if he had it he would have to be prepared to take it out at any time or day to make the purchase worthwhile.

As he is Orthodox then that rules out Fridays or Saturdays so he gave up that idea.

The OP has not told us exactly what this drain is used for.
