hi. just wondering. if you suspect a room sealed boiler is leaking poc into the room but cant determine where the hole is would it be aceptable to through a smoke bomb into the combustion chamber thus any smoke exiting boiler will tell you where the leak is coming from?

If your fast enough to get entry point resealed then yes it will show you leakage but bear in mind a roomsealed appliance will have very slight leakage on some of the seams etc

If the boiler has a 100 mm round flue then its often possible to make a gas tight seal and do a tightness test on the boiler case via the flue.

If its a fanned flue boiler and you can keep the burner off then you can try putting a smoke pellet at the inlet and see if you can see any smoke inside but thats not really a very scientific test and might not show up anything.

Since CO² is easy to measure, you would have a better chance of measuring this around the boiler case.
