Boiler temperature settings

Hi could some one please advise me would it be correct to have the boiler set to max for the rads turn the TRVs down and set the room stat to say 20c.Have been advised to do this by worcester and also says to do it in the manual.The make is a W/Bosch 30 cdi condensing type 2 mth old.Wondering about cost of gas use etc .

The first thing to do is to know what type of controls you have.

If the control is just an on/off from a room stat then set the boiler CH temperature to the MINIMUM which will give you adequate heating. That will be the setting which will condense most and be the most economical.

If you have a control which modulates the boiler such as weather compensation or the Worcester proportional thermostat then the boiler should be set at maximum as the control will then run it at the lowest setting appropriate to the heat output required.

The Worcester technical advice is the best in the industry and unlike Vaillant they do answer their phones and emails.

I sent an enquiry to Vaillant two weeks ago but obviously by now they are not going to reply.
