Hi. I have a Vaillant VC/VCW 254 XE combo boiler. First off let me say, I DO NOT have a digital display, there is no way to see "error codes" and the boiler works fine when the flame is on. Now first, I have to turn the boiler COMPLETELY off and wait for about approx 30 minutes and turn it back on to get a flame for the water to heat back up to the temp I have it set at, THEN AND ONLY THEN can I turn on a faucet and get hot water, as soon as I turn the faucet off the flame shuts off and the flame light STAYS on and will not shut off and the water temperature drops. The Flame light WILL NOT go out and I do not get the Flame with an X through it where so I can hit the reset. If I unplug the unit and turn it off, plug it back in and turn it back on still, FLAME LIGHT IS ON, and no flame. To clear this up, it is electric start (so no pilot light), I hear no ticking of the electric start, the gas flow is perfect, already had it checked, stove still works with gas, but no flame in the boiler. Any suggestions in what is the problem? If you want I can try to post pictures of what I mean.

This model was never available in the UK, the closest is the VCW 242/282. From your description it sounds like the flame supervision pcb or the electronic pcb could be faulty.

In the UK a registered gas engineer is required to install these parts as checking and setting of the gas valve and safety devices are required after the repair.

My advice would be to get the help of a gas engineer who specialises in Vaillant boilers to diagnose the correct pcb.

ok thank you. i was unable to find anything relating to this model over here and since everything that I look up is UK oriented I tried here. Just a very weird problem and no one can seem to diagnose the problem. And the building I live in wont allow us to purchase the style of Boiler this is. They want us to convert to the other style and we do not have the money to change right now. 1000 euros is expensive on one income.
