Hi all,

I am in the process of renovating our kitchen/dining room, as part of this we have put double french doors in the back and blocked up the old doorway.

The problem i have is that our house is built with 9 inch block with a 20mm insulation board on the inside the plasterboard over this. Is is possible to put bonding coat over a polystyrene type insulation board or will it simply not stick to it?

Thanks

Yes it will stick to it but there will not be any physical strength in it as there is no strength in the polystyrene.!! If the poly boards are solid on the wall why don't you dot and dab plaster board on to them...

As well as the D&D, how about some mechanical fixings also?

20mm of insulation doesn't seem that thick to go through and should get to the blocks underneath ok.
