Hi - I have a Bosch Dishwasher that has just had a new pump fitted but now it wont start its wash cycle - I called out the engineer after coming back from holiday and he wouldnt come back out as he said that he left it working fine! I wasnt present when he initially fixed it! Not sure whether it is worth just spending a bit extra money and buying a brand new one? Can anyone give me any clues as to what migbht be the problem?

firstly i wouldn,t let the guy get away with it. i would have the decency to at least pop back for a look.
to offer any help it would be good to know if it's a full sized or slimline machine and it's approx age.
the first thing you should hear is your drain pump running. if it's not then surely the repair bloke gave you a receipt with a guarantee for the work?
if you can hear your drain pump running all the time then your aqua stop device is operating. now don't laugh but you wouldn't believe how many dishwashers fail to work after a holiday. the culprit is usually a mouse which has chewed a hose to get at the grease build up in side the cabinet.
a clue would be to tilt your machine backwards and look for about a pint or two of water running out onto the floor. if you get that then you may be lucky and that's the job done, if not then you may just need a hose.
finally if you've got the model i'm hoping you've got, try this first.
open the door then give the inside of the cabinet a thump on the left side about half way up. try it again . if it works now then the fault was a stuck metering tank float switch.
good luck
