bosch exxcell fridge/fr was auto defrosting now fridge not w

Hi
my bosch fridge freezer which is frost free had on occasion started to defrost food mainly in the top drawer and then it would be ok, now the fridge has stopped working.
They have individual digital thermostatic controls.
Freezer is working ok.
The motor switches itself on and off.

any ideas if it can be fixed please and how.

As soon as you mention Frost Free you will get the standard answer which is to defrost the unit for at least 24 hours.

You can not see the ice build up in the freezer because it is hidden behind panels, when defrosting check that water does not overflow the evaporator tray on top of the compressor.

When fully defrosted ensure the drain holes are clear in the fridge and freezer sections

turned it off and drain holes are clear but now the freezer is not working but the fridge is.

the digital lights are on both red and green and occasionally they flash.

when it starts up you can hear a click and what must be the motor but seconds later it clicks again and the motor stops.

any idea whats up with it.

If you hear a click motor starts then a little while later another click this is when the motor is switching from start to run

The relay or motor start capacitor could be faulty or the windings could be gone in the compressor

To check the windings you need to remove the relay from the compressor and use a multimeter to check the resisitance between the three pins

between pins 1 and 2 should be X ohms
between pins 2 and 3 should be Y ohms
between pins 1 and 3 should be X + Y ohms
