I owned a green bodied Bosch planer for eight years, no problems with it lovely tool but inevitable it died last year. So I replaced with Blue GHO 40-82 planer £240. After first use I felt iit was difficult to use, but thought it might be me not being used to it. Anyway, I've used it infequently up until last month when I was trying to shoot in a pair of Idigbo doors.
Brand new blades, but it wouldn't cut the timber unless I put all my weight and muscle behind it. So I thought F this its got to go back, its not me. Bosch now have planer and are stating there are foreign bodies in planer head which is causing the problem, plus a nicked cable and neither are warranty covered. New lead, yeh no problem, but the planer head foreign bodies!
Personally iI can't see how foreign bodies can get into the head it looks quite solid, but if foreign bodies have got in and caused it to mmalfunction, surely that in itself is a manufacturing issue not a user issue, personally I think these foreign bodies got in during manufacture but should they have got in through use then in my view its not fit for purpose.
Any experiences with Bosch Warranty, BTW I've had it for 6 months? Thanks
