I can't undo the drain pump cover. I've run a blunt knife around the edge to free any hard water deposit, but still no luck. Bit worried about applying big 90 deg adjustable in case the tabs break off. Any suggestions, please?

Always best to include the model & E-number then we know exactly which machine you have. If there is no baseplate on the washer (or if there is a removable one) lean the washer against a wall (front towards the wall) & remove the pump from underneath to clear the blockage. It saves busting your filter
