My girlfriend has the above boiler in her elderly parents house, its showing an F5 which I understand means overheating. On a reset, the boiler burns for about 12 hrs before cutting out. She has BG service plan, but they are pitching the usual power flush for 800 quid deal at her, which to me as a layman seems excessive. The boiler is under 5 yrs old, and has had a new pump 5 months ago. The actual rads are quite old. Any thoughts please ?

I thought that a BG 330 was a non condensing boiler?

If so they should not have been fitted since April 2005 !

Personally I think it just needs an engineer that understands your system and boiler. There are many reasons that can cause a boiler to overheat. Do all your radiators get hot over the whole of the panel. One of the signs if sludge is cold spots on your radiators especially at the bottom in the middle of the radiator
