broken step on stairs

Hi.
while removing an old very heavy iron bath down the stairs, it slipped and it broke off the end of one of the wooden steps on the stairs.
Basically the whole edge of the step is smashed off and i cannot repair it so it is safe.
The step had a rounded end and each side is inset into the sides.
Anyone know if i can buy a replacement and if so how do i go about removal of the broken one and inserting the new.

A fairly easy job even for a novice so nothing to worry too much about.
