Hi,

Does anyone know the best way to build a hearth and a way of finishing it so it looks smart. It will be on a concrete floor in a brick inglenook chimney with a wood burning stove on top of it.

Thanks

i assume there is some sort of constructional heath there? What height do you need to make up?

Mine is done with old bricks and roofing slates for the rustic look.

Hi,

There's no construction hearth at the momement as it was removed when floor was filled with concrete. So its basically just a concrete floor into the chimney

Stuart45 thanks for the pic.... nice mix between brick and slate looks good with the wooden floor

You can use anything - obviously fire proof if using the fire. Slabs, slate, granite, bricks, marble etc. etc. etc. The floor will act as a constructional hearth so just put the decorative on top.
