My house is a 5 year old 3 bed detached, Would Building Regulations at the time of building require the builder(McDermott homes) to install Cavity Wall Insulation of some kind ?
The walls inside are dry lined plasterboard.

Thats what I'm not sure off - If i have any cavity wall insulation or not.
If building regs about 5 years ago says some insulation should be used in the cavity I would presume i have some.
I'm just wondering if my walls will have cavity insulation or not.

I had a insulation surveyor out yesterday, he drilled and checked my walls with his tester - and he was very very surprised to find no insulation !! He said I could chase the builder McDermott up or the NHBC as it should of been done !!
I've decided not to bother with all the hassle of chasing it up, I'm having the Cavity Wall Insulation done for £109 and the Loft Insulation topped up from 100mm with a extra 200mm for £109 so £218 for the two.
For the sake of £109 I don't think its worth all the hassle of chasing McDermott up or the NHBC.
But just shows what goes on or is missed from these new houses that the eye can't see!!

Aletank, £109 for cavity wall insulation sounds good to me.

I'm thinking of getting my 1930s semi (no CWI) done.
Anyone out there recommend a reputable firm in the Preston, Lancs area?
